Steve was born in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1962 and grew up going to Copeland Baptist church, a church his Great Grandfather built where he would meet his soulmate, Debi. Steve began playing drums at the age of 10 and would later use his talents and gifts to Glorify God, as God called him to go to Wyatt Park Baptist Church in 1991 where he became involved with the music and worship ministry playing in their orchestra, then with the youth band and eventually becoming a part of the Sunday morning Worship team playing percussion with the Extra Mile Band. Steve felt he was doing what God had called him to do. In 2012 Steve felt like God was again calling him to go someplace else and in 2013 God led Steve to Faith United Church to help get the contemporary service up and running. Again Steve thought that this was the calling God was going to use him for. But God had bigger plans, plans Steve or Debi could not imagine at the time. God had been laying on Steve’s heart for some time that he had other plans, but he couldn’t imagine anything but using his music to give back to God. Steve finally heard Gods voice telling to go back to school because God was calling him to share the good news of Christ through preaching as well as using his musical talents. Steve went back to school, started doing Recharge, a Wednesday night service with lots of music and a message and began filling at the pulpit when Pastor Jim was gone. Steve graduated in December 2020 from the Rawlings School of Divinity at Liberty University with a degree in Religion. Steve Was ordained in July 2021 and is now the full-time Associate Pastor at Faith United Church. Steve and Debi have been married for 40 years and they have been blessed with two wonderful children, Heidi and Brandon and six amazing grandchildren; Brodie, Deacon, Truman, Sawyer, Elliot, & Finn who bring joy and happiness to them. Praise the Lord!
