History
Our Church was formed on October 15th, 1961 when three St. Joseph churches merged to become one congregation. On that beautiful fall morning, the congregations of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church at 10th and Lincoln St. and Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church at 15th and Lafayette St. left their buildings for the last time. They traveled to 13th and Jules St. where they were greeted outside by the members of the First Congregational Christian Church. The entire group entered that building together as The United Church of Christ.
A year later the congregation changed the name of their newly formed union to Faith United Church of Christ. Their goal from the beginning was to construct a new building in St. Joseph. After breaking ground at 3025 Karnes Road in 1966, construction was completed within a year. On Sunday, May 21st,1967 the new building was dedicated to the glory of God. In a full day of worship, dedication and celebration, the church gathered to consecrate the new building to the purpose for which it was built.
After parting with the United Church of Christ, Faith United Church continues as a non-denominational Christian church serving the community of St. Joseph. Its mission still remains; to know Jesus Christ and to make Him known.
